How it Works & FAQs

The ECO scheme was setup to help out households make the transition to a more renewable, affordable energy supply.

After completing the form at the bottom of our homepage, one of our team will be in touch to arrange a visit from a surveyor. The surveyor will write up their report on the day and let you know what upgrades you qualify for before booking a visit from the engineer.

You can read more about the specifics of the Energy Company Obligation scheme on either the Government’s or OFGEM’s website.

There are several types of upgrade you could be eligible for:

Boiler Replacements - If your current boiler is over 6 years old and can be installed with another energy saving measure such as Under Floor Insulation, Cavity Wall Insulation or Room In Roof Insulation, you may have a new energy efficient Boiler installed 100% FREE of charge. If you’d still like the boiler, but aren’t eligible for any of the other measures after a visit from one of our surveyors then you can still opt to go ahead with the replacement for a fee.

Under Floor Insulation - You could be losing a lot of heat through floors which are over rooms that aren’t ordinarily heated. Under Floor Insulation is done by laying a mineral wool insulation under the floor between the joists.

Cavity Wall Insulation - Homes, regardless of size or age can benefit from cavity wall insulation. Our work is covered by the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency, which is valid for 25 years.

Solid Wall Insulation - Internal wall insulation can reduce heat loss by nearly 50%, resulting in huge savings on your energy bills. Properties built prior to 1930 will most likely have solid walls which typically allow more heat to pass through than standard cavity walls.

First Time Central Heating - FTCH systems include a new A-Rated boiler + new boiler pipework, radiators and a new gas connection if your home is reasonably close to the UK mains gas network. This will make your home more comfortable and help to save money off your energy bill.

Electric Storage Heaters - Under the ECO3 scheme, new electric storage heater grants are available to you if you currently have an electric wall room heaters or inefficient storage heaters. All charges for removal, installation and aftercare are also paid through the scheme so there’s no fee paid by you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where does the funding come from?

Under ECO3, utility companies are obligated to put a percentage levy of all utility payments towards making the homes of those most in need more energy efficient. This levy is taken from the utility bills of everyone in the country who uses a supplier with more than 200,000 customers.

I’m not with an energy company with more than 200,000 customers. Can I still qualify?

Yes, all that’s required to qualify is that you own your own home, are in receipt of one or more of the benefits listed above, and have a boiler that is older than six years.

I’ve only just applied for Universal Credit or another benefit listed above. Do I still qualify?

Yes. As long as you’ve received your first payment or have a benefit letter to confirm your acceptance you still qualify and will continue to qualify for up to 18 months from the last payment.
